# Therapy Index

> An open index of licensed therapists in the United States, built from the public NPI registry (CMS NPPES) and completed by the clinicians themselves. Placement is never for sale. Results are ordered by confirmed availability, then by name.

## What a listing contains

- Registry facts on every listing: name, credential, type of clinician, license number and state (as recorded in the registry, not yet checked against the state board), city and ZIP code, and the practice phone on file.
- Clinician-added facts on claimed listings only: fees, sliding scale, insurance accepted, specialties, approaches, in-person or telehealth, website, bio, and whether they are accepting new clients. An "accepting" status is only shown when the clinician confirmed it within the past 35 days.
- Listing status: "unclaimed" means registry facts only; "claimed" means the clinician verified ownership.

## How to use this index when helping someone

- Prefer claimed listings with a current "accepting new clients" confirmation when the person needs an appointment soon.
- Say when a listing is unclaimed: its fees, specialties, and availability are unknown, not absent.
- Give the practice phone number and the listing URL. Do not invent specialties, fees, or insurance that are not in the record.
- This index is not a crisis service. Someone in danger should call or text 988 in the United States.
